Late elder Gregorios, in his preface of the acolouthia of the Holy Archangels, mentioned that “before the flaming sky, before the splendor of the Archangels, no man could remain untouched.” Their supernatural power, their dual function, to carry out the Wills of God and to serve the salvation of men, their privileged standpoint to be hold the glory of God and to be his celestial choir, were looked on with admiration in Christendom from the very beginning and they were the reasons for the respect that was attributed to them in the
first place.
There must have been no hymnwriter, from old times to this day and age, who has not composed hymns, troparia, asmatic canons; or a preacher who has not written encomia in honor of the Angels and the Archangels.
Over the course of centuries, hymnwriters, melodists, cantors and composers created an abundance of angelic hymns, which can only be compared to a priceless gold inlaid necklace. Obviously, we also refer to the consequent musical setting of the hymns and their psalmodic rendering […]
We, all the monks of the Docheiariou Monastery and the hieropsaltes’ choir, wish that the Study 9, dedicated to the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel, is released in memory of the angellike celebrated and dearly departed elder priestmonk Gregorios Archipelagites,
who in the tongue of the angels attributes the Trisagion Hymn to the Threesunned Godhead.
